FAQs
FAQs
How many members does Temple Emanu-El have?
With over 600 member households, we are just the right size. We are large enough to offer a rich and diverse selection of programs and services, but small enough that you can get to know everyone.
What is your religious ideology?
We are a mainstream Reform congregation, but our individual members are remarkably diverse. Most of us come from Reform and Conservative backgrounds, and we have many interfaith couples.
What do you offer for young families?
Emanu-El is a vibrant center of young Jewish life in Sarasota-Manatee. From monthly Family Shabbat services featuring a live band to a religious school based on joy and love of Judaism; from our adorable Tot Shabbat on Saturday mornings to our sweet and nurturing preschool featuring extended hours for working families ... Emanu-El is the place to be!
Where do most of the Jews live in Sarasota?
Everywhere! From 1950 through the end of the century, the strongest concentration of Jewish residents could be found in the neighborhoods around the McIntosh Road/Bahia Vista area but that is no longer the case. From South County to Lakewood Ranch over to Longboat Key, the Jews of Sarasota and Manatee are now fairly widely dispersed.
How do I become a member?
