Children don't just sit in classrooms being lectured for hours at Temple Emanu-El's Religious School - they are immersed in a wide variety of activities and special events that imbue in them a lifelong joy in being Jewish. Parents are pleased to report that they don't have to drag their kids to school each week; their kids look forward to Religious School, and seeing their friends.
Our school serves kids from kindergarten through tenth grade, as well as students preparing for their Bar/Bat Mitzvahs and Confirmation. Our dynamic curriculum includes Hebrew reading, writing and vocabulary, God, Jewish values, mitzvot (good deeds), Jewish history, t'fillot (prayers), Israel, Torah and Jewish holidays. In addition to classroom instruction, students enjoy weekly enrichment in areas such as cooking, drama, art, music, Ivrit (spoken Hebrew), Teva (nature & gardening), and games.
Parents, too, benefit from the Religious School program and activities. We pride ourselves in that we don't have a "drop-off culture" - our parents are actively involved in all facets of the school and often find for themselves a second family, a second home, at our temple.
