Join Temple Emanu-El on an unforgettable Civil Rights Journey. Our trip will run from Thursday, April 23 thru Sunday, April 26. We will travel by bus through Atlanta, Montgomery, Birmingham and Selma with the renowned organization Etgar 36. Historic sites will come alive with our own expert guide who specializes in tours for Jewish adults and teens. Stand where the Civil Rights Movement began with Rosa Parks. Attend Sunday services at Dr. King's own Ebenezer Baptist Church. Visit the Equal Justice Initiative Legacy Museum and walk across the Edmund Pettus Bridge. The Tour includes personal meetings with participants in the historic struggle and prominent leaders of today's efforts. Come be inspired and learn.

  • Single-occupancy room = $1,745.00
  • Double-occupancy room = $1,495.00 per person
  • The price does NOT include flights, Thursday dinner, or Sunday lunch. Recommended flights in and out of Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport (ATL) will be suggested in the upcoming days.

Additional Info

The cost for this trip is $1,495.00 per person double occupancy.  The cost for single occupancy is $1,745.00. If we reach 25 participants we will be able to slightly reduce the cost and offer a small refund. This cost covers bus travel from Atlanta, activities and accommodations plus meals from breakfast Friday thru breakfast Sunday. The price does NOT include flights, Thursday dinner or Sunday lunch.  Meals on trip consist of entree and non-alcoholic drink only. Appetizers and desserts are extra. For questions about payment or financial assistance please contact the temple office.
The trip is recommended for ages 14 and up. The Civil Rights Journey is only open to temple members as of now. If there is still room on the bus on October 15, we will open it to guests of members.
Recommended flights will be suggested in the upcoming days. If you are not traveling on the recommended flights you must arrive in Atlanta by 6:30 pm on Thursday and depart on Sunday no earlier than 3:30 pm. The bus will meet us at the airport in Atlanta. Driver tip is included in registration costs.

Refund Policy

Refunds are available before January 15, 2026. After this date, if another traveler is available to assume your reservation, a refund will be considered. By registering, participants acknowledge that they are aware of and accept the cancellation policy and understand that they are traveling at their own risk.
